Interested in joining the Common Interests Team?

We are currently in an expansion mode and looking for new associates.  It is our desire to grow our firm, carefully over time, to four or five registered representatives who all share our interest in Responsible Investing and Responsible Citizenship.  We have built our firm on the foundation of the “Categorical Imperative” which is, in my mind, summarized by saying that we need to always act in such a way, so that if everyone else acted in this way, the world would be a much better place!  Our firm understands that we are part of the Global Village and that this village comes with personal responsibilities that have to be met in order to maintain it.

To the right is a PROFILE of the personal characteristics of the person that we would like to have as an associate.  You will notice that is directed toward  the Personality of the person.  The key ingredients here are how this person thinks, behaves, motivates him or her self, and how they relate to other people around them.  It also implies a willingness to be an entrepreneur and a self-driven desire for personal growth.  Inherent in the nature of this person is a real discontent with the status quo and a strong desire to move forward into new methods and ventures.

Additionally the person we are looking for will have a strong desire to subscribe to our Philosophy, our Mission Statement and our Commitments to Clients as stated in the About Us section of the website.  And they will want to become, in our words, “The Single Point of Entry to enhance their clients Financial Wellness.”  Clearly licensing in all of the product areas will be needed, but it is not required to join our team; however, it will definitely need to follow.

We look forward to meeting as many of the people described here as we can.  We enjoy what we do and how we do it so, THE MORE THE MERRIER!

Common Interests is committed to the idea of socially responsible investing. We view our investments as casting a vote, and refuse to vote for companies that don’t share our values.

Each of us gives back to our community in different ways, through our religious organizations, through the Rotary, or through directly working with those who need our help. We seek to work with those who share this view on the world.

Every person who walks through our doors deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their situation or life choices. We hold ourselves to this standard every day and it is central to our mission.

We seek to enhance the financial wellness of people from all walks of life. To do this, we must approach each person without judgement, prejudice or preconceptions.

Our culture reflects our personalities, and all of us love working with people on a daily basis.

We strive to work smarter in addition to working harder. This means we have implemented systems and habits which we will expect you to pick up and contribute to.

As independent financial advisors, we  operate on the mantra: “If it is to be, it’s up to me”.

As you can see from this website, we’ve put a lot of thought into the small details of every aspect of our business, and try to give our clients the best experience they can have when they interact with us. We do this by paying attention to the details.

The core of our business is Creative Problem Solving. If this is you, we want to work with you!

We pride ourselves on our technology, both on this website and in our practice. In fact, both Bob and Max sit on the technology advisory council for the Advisor Group. We seek to work with those who are willing to work in a forward thinking and technologically sophisticated way.

As our clients know, we’re always searching for better and more efficient ways to serve them. This growth and change comes from within us, and we hope to work with others who share this drive.

We’re independent financial advisors. This independence is our greatest asset, as it means we’re free to serve our clients as appropriate to them, but it is also our greatest challenge. We’re looking for advisors who can both be part of our team and their own unique person with their own goals and motivations.

You only get one chance to make a good first impression. The kind of person who makes sure it counts is the kind of person we want to work with.

Of course, if you read the point above, you’re thinking that you can’t judge a book by its’ cover, and we don’t. Your personal philosophy is equally important.

The most important part of our practice is our clients. You should love working with people and relish solving problems in interesting ways. The number of different things we do on a daily basis is staggering.

We consume a HUGE amount of news, and have developed systems for managing the information flow into the office. None of that matters if you’re not a news junkie already. There will probably be a quiz.

This one is pretty self explanatory. We lead by example here.

NO ROBOTS. Our office discussions range far and wide, from Game Of Thrones to Legos to Bob’s music to Max’s cooking to Joe’s activities with the Rotary Club. We’re looking for someone who can add their own interests to the mix.

If you read the above point, you know we’re an interesting cast of characters. We expect you to keep up, both with us and with our clients.

We hold to the adage that we have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason.

All of us either play or love music, and there’s always something playing in the office. We hope you’ll add your own style to the mix!

Ruth has translated all of our materials into Spanish, so if you’re fluent, you’ll start with a leg up in terms of materials and ability to serve the community.

We believe that military service teaches skills that are highly useful in our field. While this is not at all a requirement, we will consider military service a plus.
